Isola Lachea

Isola Lachea is a small volcanic islet just off Aci Castello’s lava-stone coast, part of the Cyclops Archipelago Marine Protected Area. Formed by ancient Etnean eruptions, it offers clear waters for snorkeling, basalt cliffs, and views of the Norman Castle and Ionian Sea. A short boat or kayak ride brings visitors to its simple paths, endemic flora, and a modest natural history station (check opening times). Ideal for quiet nature stops, geology enthusiasts, and photographers; less suited to beach-seekers or those needing facilities. Combine with Aci Castello’s seafront and nearby villages for a relaxed coastal outing.
